I don't see why everyone has to be so one-side and simple minded. First of all, this is a comic merely making fun of the way an expression can be used in two different cultures. Clearly, the fact that the first set are American troops implies that we are dealing with a little old-fashioned American bias. That's fine, we are at [a ridiculously stupid, so don't get me started] war with “terrorists”. PEOPLE: just like there is a war on terror, there are terrorists. American can be wrong in this war, that's a fine point of view, but please do not deny that there are militants living in this country who kill innocent people, whether American, Afghanistani (?), Iraqi, or whoever. Please don't act like these countries are merely poor and troubled, there is a serious issue going on over there, regardless of whether America should be at war with them.
Anyway, this comic is below average, and saved (not the right word, but it will do) by the fact that it is clearly controversial. Remember that just because the wars against Iraq and Afghanistan may be wrong and unjustified, that doesn't mean that the people are innocent. I myself have a problem with being moderate (sometimes one side is clearly wrong) but as seen in this thread, taking either side gets ridiculous. Here though, we only have one good example (and it is of the extreme right, which is, I daresay, typical), look at “common sense”'s post.

If so you would have found that Americans have a negative growth rate (.97% in 2010 according to the CIA world fact book) Pakistan: 1.5%, Iraq: 2.5%, Afghanistan: 2.47%, Saudi Arabia: 1.75%, Yemen: 2.7%, Israel: 1.6%. You would be hard pressed to find a country in the Middle East that has a negative growth rate. To those of you that think I'm ignorant, I hold a masters in business and I attended private school from kindergarten and graduated high school top of my class. I probably make more money than you and I do my part to be as green as possible. I'm well aware that I hold strong opinions but that doesn't make the points any less valid. #1 – sand nigger? Really? I feel like I just feel through time and landed in my grandparents era where I would have been afraid to walk down the street because I'm half black and afraid to go home because i'm half white.
Racism is alive and well in the world hear at home in America and all across the world but it's amazing to see judgment passed on “Sand Niggers” . Tolerance and understanding – the willingness to discuss and disagree rationally, calmly and debate all sides of a topic is the only saving grace we have and I see that trickling away more and more each day.
#2 – The Islamic Extremists that are fighting this “crusade” against all infidels have been doing so for thousands of years. It's nothing new and it will not go away unless “God Dies” becuase as you can see by the “Common Sense” post… the irrational cannot be reasoned with.
#3 – Not all Middle Easterners are Islamic Extremists.
#4 – One amazing thing about the amount of children people are having is that the more intellectually inclined, common sense having people in the world are actually having VERY FEW children… So regardless of how many children people have… if the people who can actually make the world a better place, tolerate, understand and don't sit on the rears and complain about everyone and everything aren't having children … we have big problems ahead.
The cartoon is true and sad and funny to some. It's offensive to others. This is the power and luxury of free speech. Nothing is free and the second you forget that someone else's comment, however irresponsible, racist, judgmental, is still valid to the degree that it's how they feel. To condemn anyone for their feelings about the cartoon is in my opinion the problem we have here. Don't condemn/judge – understand and debate (if possible) Once you sling a judgment or slur back you've lost the chance to change someone's mind.
Judgement of others creates separation. It's hard to come together when judgment is all there is.
The scariest part of the cartoon (To me) is the comment about sand niggers and the banter used to combat the argument. just as “Common sense” has his hate filled (but possibly justified in his own mind) ideas of a group of people that are not the majority – the same people he is referring to in that manner thing the same thing about everyone else. It's no different and unfortunately these are the people who are multiplying.

.97% is not a negative number. If you don't think that anybody should have more than 2 kids, then maybe you should be happy that America's growth rate is only .97%.
The reason that many of the countries you've listed have higher growth rates is because they have comparatively poor infrastructures. Many children die younger, and healthcare is often not readily available or accessible for older citizens, so they need to depend on their children to care for them in their old age. If you're worried that the world is going to be overrun in some kind of cataclysmic brown flood, don't worry: the United States is heavily controlling each of the countries you've listed because of war, oil, or intelligence. I find it almost laughable that you cited Israel in regards to this comic.
Muslims have been in conflicts for centuries, through the Crusades and even the empire of Genghis Khan. A lot of the reason Europe had such a headstart in technological and economic advancement was because Genghis Khan never got that far. When every nation's history has blood on their hands (including, dare I say, the United States) there is no point in being so xenophobic. People are people are people.
And to top it all off, the guy who writes this blog, Mick Hagen, is a devout Mormon, and he spends a lot of his helping spread opportunities for higher education, rather than parading a piece of paper around like a title to treat other people like crap. You have a MBA and a decent job, but so do a lot of other people. Don't be so rude over the internet. It's just supposed to be a funny comic.
